Freaks’ Seth Rogen was among the main cast, and guests and regulars included Seth Rogen, Busy Phillips, Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Ben Stiller, Jenna Fisher and Felicia Day. Judd Apatow’s follow-up to Freaks and Geeks focused on a group of college freshmen in the early 2000s. But, sadly, her on-air life was even shorter. The grim reaper is an 18-year-old directionless college drop-out named Georgia Lass whose post-life boss is a bank robber who died in the 1920s played by Mandy Patinkin. After three-episodes which featured cameos from Ben Folds, Aimee Mann and James Blunt, CBS pulled the plug, and VH1 aired the remaining five episodes. Prior to Pushing Daisies, Star Trek writer Bryan Fuller co-created the equally quirky Wonderfalls in which an overeducated sales clerk received strange advice from inanimate figurines. 26, 2007 – ApNBC)īefore Jason Schwartzman was privately investigating without a license in Bored to Death, Andy Richter and Arrested Development’s Tony Hale did things the suburban-strip-mall way in this half-hour comedy. These 15 classic shows all died too young. A couple animated shows- Futurama and Family Guy-managed to survive the first cancellation, and it’s still possible that Southland will find a home on cable. A half-dozen networks are represented here, but it seems like Fox and ABC are the quickest to give up on great television.

We wanted to look back on other TV series that were canceled too soon. NBC gave fans the kind of surprise that happens all too often when smart TV shows are still trying to find an audience. We know you thirst, and we, Lestat and all the others who share the dark gift shall satisfy that thirst very soon.Despite a heap of critical acclaim, Southland got the axe earlier this week. Like Lestat, this project will live forever.

But in this particular moment, we are sworn to secrecy. Please allow me to assure you that magnificently exciting things are happening behind the scenes and we are dyyyyyyyyyying to talk to you about them. Hulu came on board in the summer of 2018 and right up to a couple of weeks ago it seemed like things might still be progressing, with the following cryptic note being published on The Vampire Chronicles Facebook page: Sadly, it wasn’t to be-Fuller exited the project soon after.
Paramount TV and Anonymous optioned the series back in 2017 and for a hot minute Brian Fuller ( Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, Hannibal, American Gods) was attached as showrunner, which, given Fuller’s gleefully macabre, gorgeously gory sensibilities, seems like an inspired pairing. Bad news, thirsty Lestatians: according to Deadline, streaming giant Hulu will not be moving forward with a planned TV series based on horror queen Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles. The wildly popular series of homoerotic vampire novels-centered around the sexily villainous Lestat de Lioncourt, a French nobleman turned into a vampire in the 18th century-which began with 1976’s Interview with the Vampire and continued though twelve further installments, have sold almost 100 million copies worldwide and spawned (sired?) two movies, making the franchise a bonafide phenomenon.
